This script allows you to select objects in the scene that contain specified words or symbols in their name (anywhere - at the beginning, end, or middle). You can specify multiple values for the object name to contain, as well as specify exclusion words that should not be in the object name.

The installation is standard: drag the file into the Max window or call it through Run Script from the Scripting menu. Then you will find it in Customize User Interface - Multi Selector.
