In this video, we have started implementing a complete GUI calculator using Python Tkinter library.
It is Part 1 of a two-part series.
Here, we concentrate on working out the calculator’s interface, consisting of the entry field and buttons with the help of the grid geometry manager.
You'll learn how the grid system works with rows and columns, learn how to position widgets such as Entry and Button by making use of row, column, columnspan, and sticky parameters, and also how to adjust your layout for a neat and uncluttered appearance.
We will first import the entire Tkinter module, set the window's size and name, and then use the grid() method to position our widgets. Besides that, you will also learn how to span columns, choose fonts, background colors, borders, and make the entry field responsive.
If you are a Python beginner or have just started with GUI applications, this video will definitely assist you in creating a solid base.
Functionality will be added to this layout in the next video, making the calculator fully functional.
