Development of java

The development of Java starts with “Green team” (James Gosling, Mike Sheridan and Patrick Naughton) in 1991(at Sun Microsystems) and was released in 1995.
Initially it was developed for embedded system like set-top box.
James Gosling is known as father of Java.
Initially it was called Oak and extension was “.gt”.
In 1995 Oak was renamed as “Java” and extension as “.java”.
In 2010 Oracle Corporation acquired Sun Microsystems.
