The JAVA_HOME error occurs when Android Studio cannot find the Java Development Kit (JDK) on your computer. The JDK is a software package that contains the tools and libraries needed to create and run Java applications. Android Studio uses the JDK to compile and run your Android apps.

To fix the JAVA_HOME error, you need to do four things:

1. Install Java/JDK if you don't have it already. You can download the latest version of Java from the official website: https://www.java.com/en/download/. Make sure you choose the right version for your operating system and architecture (32-bit or 64-bit).
2. Check if Android Studio and JDK are the same bit length (32-bit or 64-bit). Sometimes, the JAVA_HOME error can happen if you have a mismatch between the bit length of Android Studio and JDK. To check this, go to Help - About in Android Studio and look for the System Info section. There, you'll see whether Android Studio is running on a 32-bit or 64-bit JVM (Java Virtual Machine). Then, go to Control Panel - Programs -Java and check the bit length of your installed JDK. If they are different, you need to either install a matching JDK or switch to a matching Android Studio version.
3. Set JAVA_HOME environment variable. This is a system variable that tells Android Studio where to find the JDK on your computer.

4. Delete vmoptions file. This is an optional file that contains custom settings for Android Studio's JVM. Sometimes, this file can cause conflicts with the JAVA_HOME variable and cause the error. To delete it, go to C:\Users\YourUsername\.AndroidStudioX.X\config where X.X is your Android Studio version number. Find and delete the file named studio64.exe.vmoptions or studio.exe.vmoptions depending on your bit length. Restart Android Studio and see if the error is gone.
