3Ds max Object Selection Problem | Selection Deselection Problem| Object Lock Mode | Selection Lock
Selection is locked and I can not select any other object or deselect the object that is selected. Selection is the main thing, without selecting an object you can not work. So if you can not select an object it is problem, restarting Max also does help.
But it is absolutely not a problem, it is a feature of 3Ds Max for the convenience of Users. It is Selection Lock Mode. You activate is by pressing Space Bar.
Another possibility is that you are in Editable mode. If you have make an object editable poly or editable mess and you are sub selection like vertex or edges or polygon then you will be able to select only that Sub selection only, like the vertex only and that too of that object only. To get out of Editable Poly mode you need to click on "Edit Poly" then you can select other objects.
