Appium tests can be run in two ways: on a client-side as well as cloud-side. In this video, we will compare the client side and server side Appium and see both sides of the coin.
You probably already know how to run tests using Client-side execution. But have you thought about doing it entirely on Cloud instead? Do you know how it can benefit your workflow? Then, keep watching!
On a Client-Side execution, test runs and results are visible at your computer. When you run a test from Client-side the results might be flaky and slow because you are dependent on your network connection, the test takes more time as you can execute tests only on one device at a time, and it needs continuous configuration if you want to choose a specific device or change the operating system.
But there’s a better way - Cloud-Side execution. Upload all necessary files and scripts one time. They will all run on the cloud independently. Cloud-Side execution requires zero configuration, it’s fast - you can run tests on hundreds of real devices at the same time. It’s easy to monitor and you can receive the results from the cloud or via API. Cloud-Side execution will save you time and assure trustworthy results.
It’s clear that Cloud-Side execution is a much more robust testing approach. Not only you can enjoy the benefits of parallel device testing, but also it greatly improves team productivity and trustworthiness of tests that Client-Side can’t provide. By the way, on Bitbar platform you can run tests on any framework using Cloud-Side execution of course.
