🚀EXCEL DATA ANALYSIS: HLOOKUP FUNCTION TUTORIAL

The HLOOKUP function in Excel stands for "Horizontal Lookup." It is used to search for a value in the top row of a table or an array and then return a value in the same column from a specified row. Here is how the HLOOKUP function works:

Syntax: =HLOOKUP(lookup_value, table_array, row_index_num, [range_lookup])

lookup_value: The value to search for in the top row of the table.
table_array: The range of cells that contains the data. The first row of the table_array should contain the values to be compared with the lookup_value.
row_index_num: The row number in the table_array from which to return the matching value.
This parameter specifies whether you want an exact match or an approximate match. If TRUE or omitted, an approximate match is returned. If FALSE, an exact match is required.
Example: If we have a table with student names in the first row (A1:D1) and their corresponding scores in the rows below, you can use HLOOKUP to find the score of a specific student. For example, the formula below will return the score of the student named "John" from the second row:

=HLOOKUP("John", A1:D10, 2, FALSE)
