HTML Web Design Tutorials - Hyper Text Markup Language. In this HTML tutorial I will show you how to use the HTML Max Length Attribute, which controls how many characters a user can enter into a given input field for a web form.

The first thing you want to do is locate the input field within your webform that you want to limit the number of character for. Once you do that inside the input markup tag you want to write the html attribute for Max Length, which is maxlength and then write the equals sign and then put the numeric value for how many characters you want the user to be able to enter in quotes. Here is an example maxlength="15" and in this example the characters entered would be a max value of 10.
