Best experienced in 1080p, Youtube's bitrate does not like this one.
Had the idea for this textured effect about a year ago and finally committed to buying the necessary colored pencils. Was originally just going to have the video be a side-by-side comparison of before and after, but as I was putting it together I thought it would be more fun to animate the layering process itself.
Planning to use this effect every now and again for animations that don't have backgrounds.
Tried out a lot of new stuff:
Animating in 1080p
Syncing movements / transitions to music for the whole video
Moving the focus around a lot: If you see anything change speed, frame rate, opacity, saturation, or position, it's to either grab your attention or move it somewhere else.
Two-character interactions: pretty similar to the previous item. Just like the inanimate objects here, mute characters are limited to visual cues to tell the viewer where to look next.
Foregoing time charts and frame numbers: too confusing for the number of moving parts, much more efficient to wing it.
Music Used: Toy Tracks (Kirby's Epic Yarn)
