Intro
“Agents”, “agentic coding”, “MCP”, and “agent skills” can sound like separate buzzwords — especially if you’re a frontend developer. In this episode, we collapse everything into one simple model: goal → decide → act → observe → repeat. That loop is what people call an agent. When you use that loop to change a codebase, that’s agentic coding. Then we zoom into the pieces inside the loop: context (what the system can see), tools (what it’s allowed to do), skills (reusable workflows that make results consistent with your team), and MCP (a standard way to connect external tools so they can be used in the same loop). The result is a clean mental model you can map directly to real tools like Cursor.
You'll Learn
The simplest mental model for an agent: goal → decide → act → observe → repeat
Why an agent is effectively a layer between you and the LLM that adds looping, tool use, and feedback
What changes with agentic coding vs traditional step-by-step coding
What context means in practice (instructions, open files, prior results) and why it affects decision quality
What tools are (read/edit files, run tests, call APIs) and why tools alone don’t guarantee consistent outcomes
What skills are (reusable workflows) and how they encode your team’s preferred process
What MCP is, and how it standardizes connecting external systems as tools inside the same loop
Final Takeaway
Once you see the agent loop clearly, the new terminology stops feeling fragmented. You don’t need to memorize buzzwords — you need to understand the system: context drives decisions, tools enable actions, skills encode consistent workflows, and MCP expands the tool surface area. That’s the practical foundation for using agentic coding responsibly in real frontend codebases.

💬 Question for You
Which part of the loop has been the biggest pain in your projects — context quality, tooling/automation, or workflow consistency — and what would you encode first as a skill?
