most ai tools are stuck in the past. the model was trained months ago, sometimes over a year ago, and everything it knows stopped updating the moment training ended. so when you ask it about a competitor's current pricing or what people think about a product this week, the answer is either outdated or made up.
in this video, i built a competitor intelligence tool in python that fixes that. it goes out to the live web, scrapes product pages, pricing pages, and reddit community threads in real time, then feeds all of that into a language model to return a clean structured brief. current pricing, real features, actual user sentiment, all fetched the moment the script runs.
the data collection layer is handled by decodo's web scraping api, which takes care of ip rotation, captcha bypass, javascript rendering, and retries automatically. the whole build is under 150 lines of python across four files.
