DevOps vs DevOps Engineer vs DevSecOps:

In this video, I am going to simplify what is DevOps and what’s DevOps engineers as well as what’s DevSecOps.

Basically, DevOps is a framework or practice i would say, and often combined with tools that make an SDLC faster and more effective so that it can serve its end users efficiently.

Prior to DevOps, developers don’t how to make sure their application is up and running all the time on the server and system administrators don’t know anything about the application itself which creates a gap between developers and the operation team.

To fill up that gap, the DevOps model evolved where DevOps engineers work across the entire life cycle of the software development.

So DevOps is the framework or practices or often we can it mindset adopted by the organization to fasten software development life cycle and the DevOps engineer is one the key person that ensures that process by implementing a strong ci/cd pipeline

On the other hand, there is a model that evolved recently called develops which is a superset of DevOps mode.

It's the same as development mode but there is one of the key difference

Security check was missing in the DevOps model and in most cases, security is checked once the application has been deployed and it's done by the security specialist.

But under develops model, security needs to be ensured at every stage of the software development lifecycle.

For example, when the developer pushed their code into the source code repository, a security check needs to be triggered to make sure there are no vulnerabilities in the code like SQL injection or cross-site scripting.

Another security check will be triggered as well at the build stage as well. That's how a DevSecOpsengineer needs to make sure there is a security check-in in place at every stage of the ci/cd pipeline
