Documenting Your Code (JSDoc) - GameMaker Tutorial
When you write code, you should always make an effort to document how it works. Your future self (and anyone else who tries to read it) will thank you kindly!
There aren't any hard-and-fast rules about when and where you should write comments, or what they should contain, but most programming languages have their own standards for describing what functions, scripts, files, classes, etc. do. Game Maker Language is no exception.
