XP Coding Flight Simulator
Confinement is back !
As a "Souvenir" of last April confinement, when I had to take one week's vacation during the confinement and when my kids were waiting for the release of Flight Simulator 2020, I decided to take advantage of my experience in GIS and flight simulation towards #Unity and #MelownTech VTS plugin and show my kids part of my job for #DassaultAviation, creating "One week XP coding" Flight Simulator for them.
Good exercise during "home holidays" :) !
The goal was simply to be able to select a plane and a position around the globe and... just Fly!
the 1st integrated aircraft is the famous #Rafale C from #DassaultAviation, then the mythical #Spitfire...

But my second son prefers helicopters so let's go for Magnum One : the #MD-500 next the #OH-58 Kiowa and the legendary #MI-24 ...

... and not to make my 3rd son jealous, who loves Starwars, a Tie Fighter, a X-Wing and of course the Millenium Falcon.

Of course the flight models are not 100% realistic, but I tried to give a real impression of flight ... for the Rafale, the Spitfire, the various helicopters and also the high speeds of the spacecraft ....
Beyond the exercise, I am impressed with the result, and the ease with which #Unity is designed to create games and integrate 3D models.
As for the #MelownTech VTS plugin, I think the team did a awesome job, simple, structured, fast and smooth. Their work in #GIS is simply breathtaking. Special thanks for to Tomas Maly, who developped the integration with Unity.
This video was taken with a 4G connection, and despite this, the landscape is fluid and dense.
Of course without beautiful 3D models a simulator is not worth much, so thanks to the maker of these awesome free models.
