The grinding process is a material removal and surface generation technique used to shape and finish components made of metals and other materials. It involves using a rotating abrasive wheel as a cutting tool. The wheel, which contains abrasive particles, acts like a myriad of sharp cutting edges, shaving off layers of material to achieve the desired form and finish1. 3. Types of Grinding Machines:

Creep-Feed Grinding (CFG): A specialized process for high material removal rates, competing with milling and turning. CFG can remove material up to 6 mm deep and provides improved surface finishes.
