Hot take: not every site should be a React* app. (*Insert Vue, Angular, Ember, Svelte, or other client-side SPA name.) For many projects, from portfolio sites to marketing sites to blogs, users get a faster and more stable experience when pages are rendered in advance. Sure, you could build a JS app and bolt on server-side rendering to mimic that, but what if … we just compiled the pages ahead of time and didn’t send an app-sized JS bundle to users?
You may have caught our JamStack talk a few months ago where a speaker introduced the static site generator Eleventy. In this month's talk, James Steinbach will dive into greater detail, showing how to use Eleventy to generate entire sites as needed. We’ll cover basics like “installing it and getting started” as well as answer enterprise-level topics like using a CMS, submitting forms, automating new builds & deploys, and animating page transitions.
Our own James Steinbach will be providing a practical introduction to Eleventy.
