In this lecture, we will consider Shell sorting. This algorithm is an improved version of the insertion sort algorithm. An interesting feature of this algorithm is the dependence of efficiency on the method of choosing a step. The lecture will demonstrate the implementation of this algorithm in Python and Java. Computational experiments will also be conducted to study the efficiency of both the algorithm itself and the choice of a step.
