Reverse Engineering a Database and Implementing Change Control for SQL Server
In our first 30 minute presentation, Sam Hetchler will talk about learning an unfamiliar dataset. You'll get to learn some methods that he has used to understand how the data is stored when no one is there, or the documentation is sparse. Sam has mapped out over 7 source systems/applications in my career and successfully implemented the data into reporting. There's always a way to do this, and his hope is that by giving you some of my tools and methods, you'll feel more comfortable when you have to do it.
Biodata: Sam Hetchler is currently a Senior IT Applications Analyst at Vail Resorts in Colorado. He is a self-taught coder that has learned in the line of fire. When he was given the opportunity to code in SQL and make SSRS reports, he jumped at the opportunity, and never looked back.
In our second 30 minute presentation, Anthony Fortner will discuss his experience designing and evolving an automated solution for deploying T-SQL changes to SQL Server. If you've ever wanted to introduce change control for SQL Server, this is the presentation for you.
Biodata: Anthony Fortner is currently a Data Engineer at Hunter Engineering in Saint Louis, MO. He has over 10 years of experience in IT in various roles working with data. He has experience as a DBA and in software development and maintenance. He works with C#, Python, SQL, Javascript, jQuery, HTML, JavaScript and Flask.
