Interactive Engineering Documentation: Bridging Python (Matplotlib) and TechEditor

When building technical reports or educational materials, static plots often fall short. They force the reader to mentally visualize how a system behaves when parameters change. But what happens when you combine the flexibility of Python with an automated reporting environment?

We recently implemented a clean use case: a fully interactive spring-mass system simulation running directly inside an engineering document.

💡 How it works:
1. Wrote a Python (Matplotlib) script that generates the spring geometry (left) and the damped oscillation graph (right) based on a single displacement variable.
2. Embedded the script into TechEditor.
3. Linked the Python input variable to an interactive slider component right in the report layout.

Now, a user can simply drag the slider directly on the document page to instantly see the system adapt. The spring physically compresses or stretches, and the marker on the displacement-time graph snaps to the exact state of the system.

This approach completely changes how we interact with calculations. Instead of dry data, you get a "living" model where you can tweak parameters and see immediate visual feedback.
