Fiber Optic Bass String - prototype demonstration
Demonstration of a prototype fiber-optic bass string. The fiber is connected to an off-the-shelf illuminator, and stretched between two small mounted clamps. A mounted vibration sensor, is monitored by a microprocessor. When the fiber is plucked, a signal is sent to a MIDI board to generate a tone. This technology will be incorporated into a musical sculpture in my “Song of the Sea” series.
