Latin name Hura crepitans, also called "Monkey's Pistol" or "Monkey no-climb".
Please do not attempt yourself! Not only is the fruit incredibly poisonous, the exploding fruit reaches speeds of 70 meters per second (157 miles per hour), which is fast enough to puncture your eye and severely injure you.

I've edited the original video to play the explosion once at real-time speed. Most of the video was uploaded to FLAAR with some sort of slightly-frustrating fast forward. I've seen your comments, and I agree! It's bad.
The original video belongs to the FLAAR Association of Mesoamerica.

I do not represent FLAAR, but they seem to have some excellent videos and photos. Donations can be sent to FrontDesk@FLAAR.org. FLAAR is a non-profit 501c and also a separate non-profit institute in Guatemala.
