I've been doing this completely wrong in Python. Practically, I've been creating variables that belonged to the class instead of creating variables that belonged solely to the instance of the class. And as you saw, this could lead to some incredibly unwanted behaviour in our programs.

Hopefully you weren't foolish as me, but no shame in it if you were, because we learn best from our mistakes!
