In this video, we will learn how React State actually works. We will first see how React communicates with the renderer, because it is the renderer that handles the update. Later, we will explore all of the lifecycle methods related to updates, specifically getDerivedStateFromProps, shouldComponentUpdate and componentDidUpdate. We will go through them one by one and we will connect them with the 2 phases of React Fiber: the render phase and the commit phase. We will also learn about side effects and where we can place them and finally, we will go through the full update process from a higher perspective.
