This tutorial describes how to layout gravity on views in android, through the following steps:
1) we create a new project in an android studio with new project wizard and choose empty activity form the wizard in our project.
2) we use the existing text-view to apply gravity=center to it and we deploy that to the emulator.
3) then we remove the text-view and add three more buttons.
4) for the first button we set attribute android:gravity="top".
5) for the second button we set android:layout_gravity="right" and android:gravity="bottom" attributes.
6) for the second button we set android:layout_gravity="left" and android:gravity="center" attributes.
7) Finally we deploy and run the app to the android emulator.
Notes:
1) LinearLayout:
as the android docs describe it
a) A layout that arranges other views either horizontally in a single column or vertically in a single row.
b) To control how linear layout aligns all the views it contains, set a value for android:gravity.
c) You can set android:layout_weight on individual child views to specify how linear layout divides remaining space amongst the views it contains.
2) Gravity: described in android documentation as, Standard constants and tools for placing an object within a potentially larger container.
