In this tutorial, I will show you how to effectively stop your app or test environment from incurring a massive amount of invocations against your Firestore database, which can result in massive overage charges if not properly controlled. Firebase does not offer a way to do this out of the box and doesn't appear to have any plans to do so any time soon, so if you're worried about your Firestore getting bombarded with read/write/delete requests that could send you into bankruptcy, these tips and tricks will help negate that. Be sure to always test your custom code, rules and functions thoroughly before launching to a live environment, to ensure proper operation. And, because I feel inclined to say it, I won't be held liable should this code fail or you implement it incorrectly, resulting in overage fees to your Firestore usage. That's on you, so build with care and always test!
