The Fastest Way to Setup Reference Images in 3ds Max (Script)

I’m sharing a custom MAXScript tool I developed called "Image Plane Pro". Setting up reference images or blueprints in 3ds Max usually takes time—you have to create a plane, check image dimensions, adjust the size, and create a material.

This script does it all in one click!

🔥 Key Features:

Auto-Scale: Automatically adjusts the plane size based on the image resolution (perfect aspect ratio).

Smart Pivot: Set the pivot to Bottom-Center (for character modeling), Top, or Center instantly.

Move to Zero: Quickly reset your reference to the world origin (0,0,0).

🚀 How to Install:

Drag and drop the script into the 3ds Max viewport.

Go to the "Create" panel - "Standard Primitives".

Select "ImagePlane" from the dropdown list.

To ensure the script runs automatically at startup in 3ds Max, place it in the startup folder.
