Vergels became known for his roles as Gino in the film "North Sea, Texas" and as the butcher's son Briek in "Allez, Eddy!" (Allez, Eddy!). He previously had smaller roles in the film "Bo" and the television series "Aspe." Since December 7, 2012, he has played the role of Lowie Bomans in the soap opera "Thuis." In theater, he played the lead role of Wolf in "Wolf en Hond," a children's play by Johnny De Meyer. In 2010, this play won the Children's Jury Prize at the Spekken festival.
Besides acting, Vergels is also involved in music, particularly singing, guitar, and drums. He played in the punk band Zero Grace and toured throughout Belgium with his band The Village, performing singer-songwriter-style. Since 2017, Vergels has been releasing Dutch-language music under his own name. With singles like "Margherita" (2017), "Helena" (2019), and "1 keer voor altijd" (2019), he scored major hits in the Flemish Top 50. On January 18, 2020, his debut album "Waar Is Mathi?" (Where Is Mathi?) was released on the HKM label of Hans Kusters, the discoverer of Clouseau, among others. In the summer of 2019, Vergels won the trophy for Best Solo Artist at the Radio 2 Summer Hit awards.
