How about learning how to use the TRIM text function in Excel for text copied and pasted from programs or the internet into Excel spreadsheets? We often copy text from the internet to apply to spreadsheets, and in these copies the text comes out "dirty", so it is interesting to know how to use the TRIM text function in Excel.

This is a super quick tip on how you can use this function to organize copied text by ELIMINATING the extra blank spaces between words in a cell, for example.

The TRIM function removes all spaces from the text except for single spaces between words. Use TRIM on text that you received from another application that may have irregular spacing. Important: The TRIM function was designed to trim the 7-bit ASCII space character (value 32) from the text.

The TEXT function allows you to change the way a number is displayed by applying formatting to it with formatting codes. This is useful when you want to display numbers in a more readable format or want to combine numbers with text or symbols.

In this lesson, you will learn how to prepare text within cells in Excel.

NOTE: The TEXT function will convert numbers to text, which can be difficult to reference in later calculations. It is best to keep the original value of a cell and use the TEXT function in another cell. This way, if you need to create other formulas, always reference the original value and not the result of the TEXT function.
