While enabling ReadyBoost, we might encounter an error like "This device cannot be used for ReadyBoost". To overcome this error we may follow some of the fixes:
1. Test again for ReadyBoost Compatibility
2. Formatting the flash drive with the NTFS file system
3. Deleting all external drive folders from the registry
If doing all the above fixes does not solve the issue then there is a high probability that your flash drive is corrupt or is incompatible with ReadyBoost.
Sometimes you may face other issues like; ReadyBoost only recognizing around 4GB of your flash drive space, whereas your flash drive is of higher capacity than 4GB. In that case, you should check the architecture of your Operating System and the file system of your flash drive. If your Operating System is 32-bit then you will have to work with a 4GB limitation as 32-bit Operating Systems have a 4GB file size limit. But if, your Operating System is 64-bit then maybe your flash drive has a FAT32 file system. The FAT32 file system also has a 4GB file size limit. So, you will need to format your flash drive and set the file system as NTFS. Then, ReadyBoost should recognize your flash drive's full storage capacity.
If you already have installed your Operating System on SSD then, you will not be able to enable ReadyBoost. Because, SSD is already fast, so, there is no need for ReadyBoost. You will get a message, "ReadyBoost is not enabled because this computer is fast enough that ReadyBoost is unlikely to provide additional benefit."
