SUMMARY:
A Snapshot is a Point-in-time copy
Snapshots are stored using the S3 service
Note that snapshots appear in the EC2 Dashboard-
You will be charged S3 fees for storage of snapshots
S3 is global service, however EBS snapshots are visible only regionally
An EBS snapshot can be used to create an EBS volume in any AZ of the same region
Also, EBS snapshot can be copied too the regions
This procedure allows you to create a point-in-time copy of any EBS volume in any AZ of any region
