Grid Pattern Crochet Beanie Tutorial
In this step-by-step crochet tutorial, I show you how to make a grid pattern crochet beanie using colour changes and a simple stitch repeat. The beanie is worked flat as a rectangle, then seamed and scrunched closed at the top.
The grid pattern is demonstrated using half double crochet, but this same method can also be worked with single crochet or double crochet.
This beanie uses a rectangle-to-beanie construction with a gathered top. If you prefer top-down beanies, this method may not be for you.

Materials used:
• 6mm crochet hook
• 2 balls of Hobbii Fluffy Day XL yarn (one in each colour)
Yarn substitutions:If you’re looking for a similar yarn texture, try:
• Drops Air
• Wool and the Gang Feeling Good Yarn
You can also recreate the fluffy effect by holding a strand of mohair together with a smooth yarn in the same colour.
