Machine learning is a subfield of artificial intelligence that involves the development of algorithms and models that enable computers to learn from data without being explicitly programmed. The basic idea behind machine learning is to identify patterns and relationships in data and use these patterns to make predictions or decisions about new data.

There are three main types of machine learning: supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning. In supervised learning, the algorithm learns from labeled data, where the correct output is provided for each input. The algorithm then uses this labeled data to make predictions about new, unseen data. In unsupervised learning, the algorithm learns from unlabeled data and tries to identify patterns or structure in the data. Reinforcement learning is a type of learning where an agent learns to make decisions in an environment based on feedback in the form of rewards or punishments.
