Pet python trying to escape, doesn't mind being filmed. (Stimsons Python)
Caught my python active tonight, which is a pretty rare thing as he doesn't usually come out until the lights are off. I grabbed my camera to make a short video and it turned out to be worthwhile.
The cheeky little thing tried to fit through the glass, which I have not seen him do since he was much much smaller, around 10-11 months ago. After I realised he was going to continue trying to escape, I tapped on the glass trying to encourage him back in without scaring him. He is much too big to fit through that gap (as clearly visible) and I was worried he may get stuck and hurt himself or break the glass trying.
For those interested, the gap between the glass is about 4mm, and the snake is approx 80cm long.
I've never seen him try to escape like that before, while I was watching too. I checked his temperatures and everything is ideal (32-24), he was also fed recently, but is due to eat again in the next couple of days.
Any ideas why he may be trying to escape?

His water bowl does look a little empty, but as this is spring I only put about half a centimetre of fresh water in there daily, otherwise it increases the humidity of his enclosure too much.
After I stopped filming, he tried again a few more times to get out while I was watching. To stop this behaviour temporarily, I stuffed a magazine in the gap.
