Hello everyone, welcome back, in this video, I am explaining elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) algorithm of asymmetric encryption (developed in mid 1980s, based on algebraic architecture of elliptic curves) !
Advantages of ECC algorithm over RSA algorithm
I. RSA is dependent on huge prime numbers, but ECC leverages EC theory for security
II. RSA provides lesser bandwidth whereas ECC gives significant bandwidth savings
III. RSA encryption takes more time, but ECC encryption process takes less time
IV. RSA is toward tenure end whereas ECC is much safer & currently in process
V. RSA key length required is 1024 (for 80 security bits), but ECC is between 160-223
Numerous set of algorithms for ECC based on elliptic curves arithmetic over finite fields
1. Key agreement algorithms of elliptic curve cryptography
1.1 Elliptic-curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) algorithm
1.2 Fully hashed Menezes-Qu-Vanstone (FHMQV) algorithm
2. Encryption algorithms of elliptic curve cryptography
2.1 Elliptic curve Integrated Encryption Scheme (ECIES) algorithm
2.2 EC-based ElGamal (ElGamal ECC) algorithm
3. Digital signature algorithms of elliptic curve cryptography
3.1 Elliptic curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA)
3.2 Edwards-curve Digital Signature algorithm (EdDSA)
