UE5 | Custom OffsetRootBone and Steering Nodes functionality
So the new Motion Matching sample from Unreal Engine is live which is pretty awesome 💪 , and also we've 2 new Nodes in the ABP #OffsetRootBone and #Steering.
So I've thought to breakdown these 2 nodes and implement the same functionality on my own.
Here's the end result😍. In the video the Movement is purely capsule/physics driven.
Red Arrow ⏩ Represents Capsule Rotation
Green Arrow ⏭ Represents Mesh Rotation
And I've used my Custom hashtag#OffsetRootBone to offset the Mesh from Capsule and hashtag#Steering node to counter the OffsetRootBone and maintain the forward facing direction movement. 💪
