AWS Cloud Quest: Amazon Computing Solution & Steps to Upgrade Instance Type
AWS (Amazon Web Services) provides various computing solutions, such as Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud), which allows you to create and manage virtual servers in the cloud. If you want to upgrade the instance type of your EC2 instance, you can follow these steps:
Sign in to the AWS Management Console: Go to the AWS Management Console (https://console.aws.amazon.com) and sign in with your AWS account credentials.
Navigate to EC2: Once you are logged in, navigate to the EC2 service. You can either search for "EC2" in the search bar at the top or find it under the "Compute" section.
Select your EC2 instance: In the EC2 Dashboard, select the region where your instance is located (in the top-right corner). Then, click on "Instances" in the left navigation panel to view your EC2 instances.
Stop the instance: To upgrade the instance type, the EC2 instance needs to be stopped. Select the instance you want to upgrade and click on the "Actions" button at the top, then choose "Instance State" and "Stop" to stop the instance. Confirm the action if prompted.
Modify the instance type: With the instance stopped, select the instance again and click on the "Actions" button, then choose "Instance Settings" and "Change Instance Type." A dialogue box will appear with a list of available instance types. Select the desired instance type for the upgrade and click "Apply."
Start the instance: After modifying the instance type, you can start the instance again. Select the instance and click on "Actions," then choose "Instance State" and "Start." Confirm the action if prompted.
Verify the upgrade: Once the instance is running again, you can verify that the instance type has been successfully upgraded. You can check the new instance type in the EC2 Dashboard or SSH/RDP into the instance and check the instance details within the operating system.
It's important to note that upgrading the instance type may incur additional costs and might require specific hardware compatibility, such as the availability of the desired instance type in your chosen region. Make sure to review the AWS documentation and pricing information to understand any implications before proceeding with the upgrade.
