ReactJS TypeScript Boilerplate Setup | Typescript React Tutorial
TypeScript saves time catching errors and providing fixes before you run code. It adds type checking to your JavaScript code. Using TypeScript in React JS is standard practice for bigger projects. In this React JS tutorial, we will create a ReactJS boilerplate with TypeScript. Its a tiny setup to just make you familiar with TypeScript in ReactJS. Nothing crazy.
We usually use npx create-react-app to get ReactJS boilerplate. You can get a TypeScript based ReactJS boilerplate easily with same command. We will modify this command to get TypeScript enabled ReactJS boilerplate and add template flag to same command with typescript
npx create-react-app my-app --template typescript
tsconfig file comes with the setup that is typescript configuration file. Now we can use tsx and ts file extensions instead of js in ReactJS. Use tsx file extension for components and ts file extension for styled components or utility type of files.
You will get a regular React JS setup with tsx app file. You will modify it to add TypeScript features in it. We will add a component in this app and pass props to the component and check data types by using Typescript.
