I will launch an Amazon EC2 instance in the US-West-1 region using the AWS Management Console. I will connect to the EC2 instance via SSH using the PuTTY client after converting the .pem key pair to .ppk format. On the EC2 instance, I will install the Apache web server and other dependencies like the lynx text browser. I will create a simple HTML file and host it on the Apache server to test it works. I will open port 80 for HTTP traffic in the EC2 security group to allow internet access to the web server. Next, I will create an Amazon EBS volume in the same availability zone as the EC2 instance. I will attach the EBS volume to the EC2 instance, create a file system on it, and mount it. I will configure the Apache web server to use the mounted EBS volume as the new web root instead of the default /var/www/html directory. After verifying the new web root works, I will stop the Apache service and unmount the EBS volume. Finally, I will detach the EBS volume from the instance and terminate the EC2 instance to clean up resources.
