Lesson Description:

We learn about the head of our HTML document, the "head" element, and the theory behind it. We practice some of the most common HTML elements that are used in the head of our HTML document.

Terminology:

"head" Element - A required element for any HTML document. It must be the first child of the "html" element. The head contains any machine-readable data that the browser needs to properly display the webpage.

"title" Element - The title element. Defines the document's title that is shown in a browser's title bar or a page's tab.

"meta" Element - The metadata element. Represents metadata that cannot be represented by other HTML meta-related elements such as "base", "link", "script" etc. Note: This is a void element.

"link" Element - The external resource link element. This element specifies the relationship between an external resource and the current document. Most commonly used to link to style sheets and also used to establish site icons. Note: This is a void element.

"style" Element - The style information element. Contains CSS styles, which are applied to the document.

"script" Element - The script element. Used to embed executable code or data. Typically used with JavaScript, but can also be used with others such as WebGL's GLSL shader programming language which is used to create intricate graphics on the web.
