Variables are placeholders for values that you want to temporarily store in your program. Therefore, variables are essential for every programming language.

Variables always consist of a data type, a name, and a value. The type of value is determined by the variable's data type.

For example, if you want to store text, you would use a "String," for numbers, "int," and so on.

Variables and data types might seem complicated at first... but I'm sure you'll understand them anyway! :) If you're following along with the tutorial, congratulations! You'll really grasp variables in Java!
