In Python, it is possible to nest lists within each other. If a list contains another list, then it is always defined in two dimensions. Lists can also be extended to three or more dimensions, but two-dimensional lists remain the most commonly used for representing data such as the values in a matrix, a grid, or an array containing rows and columns.
