This video guides through configuring the Digilent CMOD 6S device.
This device brings a Xilinx FPGA to a 48-pin package.
It is a great solution for using the FPGA in breadboard or other small PCB projects.

I’m making this tutorial because I found very hard to find any good tutorials about basic FPGA tricks on YouTube.
For those who are beginning to working with these devices, it would take a long time to figure out these steps.
Current software is not very intuitive and supplier's documentation rarely present straightforward step-by-step instructions like these.

In this tutorial I will present, step-by-step how to configure the flash memory of the cmod so that it will remain programmed after power is removed.

1) Open Up iMPACT
2) Hit 'Create PROM File ...' at the left panel 'iMPACT Flows'
3) Keep every option as they are and hit the green arrow
4) Hit 'Auto Select PROM' and hit the second green arrow
5) Before hitting OK, make sure that:
The 'Output File Location' is the project directory
'File Format' it 'MCS'
6) Hit OK at 'Add Device - Start adding device file to ...'
7) Select the bit stream file
8) Hit No at 'Add Device - Would you like to add ...'
9) Hit OK at 'Add Device - You have completed the ...'
10) Hit 'Generate File...' at the left panel 'iMPACT Processes'
It may be necessary to hit it twice if nothing happens
11) Hit 'Boundary Scan' at the left panel 'iMPACT Flows'
12) Right-Click the main area and select 'Add Xilinx Device'
13) Select the bit stream file
14) Double-click the SPI/BPI tag above the FPGA icon
15) Select the .mcs file
16) Select 'S25FL128S' and hit OK
17) Hit Yes at 'iMPACT Warning - The ...'
18) Select the FLASH icon above the FPGA icon
19) Hit 'program' and then hit OK
20) It'll take a while and then it'll be done
