The unsung hero of Spring boot is the application.properties files (or the application.yaml file, I don't judge).

But to really get the most out of the date you add to your properties file, you need to use the Spring ConfigurationProperties annotation.

Proper use of Spring Configuration Properties makes it possible to take structured data from your application.yaml or properties file and turn it into list, map and even inner class data types. And of course, pulling fields into simple string properties is easy as well.
