Abstract:
Combining code and data seamlessly remains a challenge, and the following questions remain vexing issues for data science teams on a daily basis:
How do you integrate the results in your code?
How do you retrain when necessary, but only when you need to?
How do you communicate your results and collaborate with others??
In this talk, Tim will introduce DDS, a data-driven software framework in python aimed at data scientists and Machine Learning engineers. DDS makes collaborative programming with data fast, easy and reliable. Its goal is to give data scientists the same experience that programmers have enjoyed for years thanks to source version control tools like git, by providing a foundation to local iteration of ML models and data, collaboration and continuous integration around data products.
With this talk, the audience will see how data science teams can:
integrate data and complex code bases with nearly no overhead in code or performance
build fully reproducible data pipelines
collaborate on data products with the same level of ease and speed as using familiar software tools such as git

** Tim Hunter, Senior AI Specialist, ABN AMRO Bank
Tim was an early software engineer at Databricks and has contributed to the Apache Spark MLlib project, and he has co-created the Koalas, GraphFrames, TensorFrames and Deep Learning Pipelines libraries. He has been building distributed Machine Learning systems with Spark since version 0.2, before Spark was an Apache Software Foundation project.
** Jules Damji, Developer Advocate, Databricks
Jules S. Damji is a Developer Advocate at Databricks and an MLflow contributor. He is a hands-on developer with over 15 years of experience and has worked at leading companies, such as Sun Microsystems, Netscape, @Home, Opsware/Loudcloud, VeriSign, ProQuest, and Hortonworks, building large-scale distributed systems. He holds a B.Sc and M.Sc in Computer Science (from Oregon State University and Cal State, Chico respectively), and an MA in Political Advocacy and Communication (from Johns Hopkins University).
