This is *Part 2* of my code rewrite series, where I'm rebuilding a legacy .NET Framework lottery simulator from 2013 using modern architecture and AI assistance. In Part 1, I used GitHub Copilot to review the legacy code. Now, I'm using it to create a clean, well-structured solution from scratch.

💡 Why Rewrite Instead of Refactor?

The original 2013 application has fundamental architectural issues: data access logic is mixed with domain logic, separation of concerns is weak, and the system is tightly coupled to the legacy .NET Framework. Rather than attempting a risky refactor, a clean rewrite using modern .NET 10 and proper architecture provides a more maintainable solution.

🔧 The Rewrite Approach

Instead of asking GitHub Copilot to rewrite the entire codebase automatically, I follow an **incremental and controlled process**:

1. Create a clean solution structure with separated projects
2. Build core domain logic for lottery simulation
3. Implement the data access layer
4. Add the presentation layer

This video focuses on how GitHub Copilot automates the repetitive setup work—creating projects, organizing solution folders, and adding NuGet packages—**saving hours of manual effort**.

The application is a lottery simulator of moderate complexity. While much of it involves CRUD operations, the main challenge lies in implementing reliable random number generation and ensuring the domain logic remains testable and independent of infrastructure.
