In this video, I walk you through the real-world process of Dockerizing a professional application called DoroSocial. We move from a local host setup to a fully containerized architecture using Docker and Docker Compose.
I break down the step-by-step approach of containerizing the frontend (Flask), the backend (FastAPI), and the MySQL database. You'll see the exact challenges I faced with container networking, specifically why 'localhost' fails inside a container and how to use 'host.docker.internal' to bridge the gap.
We also dive deep into data persistence. I explain why Docker volumes are critical for databases and local file storage, and why I eventually transitioned to a more professional cloud storage solution using DigitalOcean Spaces (S3-compatible storage) for auto-generated media files.
Finally, I demonstrate how Docker Compose coordinates these multi-container services into a single, scalable network.
