Moving Cells
Moving cells can be achieved through two primary methods: dragging and dropping or using copy and paste.
1. Drag and Drop
Begin by entering or copying some data into your Excel sheet. To move a range, such as A1:B4, simply:
• Click and hold the left mouse button on the selected cells' border.
• Drag the cells to the desired location, noticing the cursor change to a move icon.
• Release the mouse button once you see the desired location highlighted.
Now, to provide clarity to the data, consider adding relevant labels or descriptions.
2. Cut and Paste
Another way to relocate cells is by using the cut and paste method:
• Highlight the desired range, e.g., A1:C5.
• Use the shortcut keys: CONTROL KEY+X to cut the cells.
• Navigate to the desired destination, e.g., B6.
• Use the shortcut keys: CONTROL KEY+V to paste the cut cells.
3. Copy and Paste
Copying allows you to retain the original cells in their location while creating a duplicate elsewhere:
• Highlight the range you wish to copy, e.g., B6:D ten.
• Use the shortcut keys: CONTROL KEY+C to copy.
• Move to the desired location, e.g., A1.
• Use the shortcut keys: CONTROL KEY+V to paste the copied cells.
Unlike the cut function, copying doesn’t remove the source data.
4. Deleting Data
To remove data:
• Highlight the cells you want to delete.
• Press the "Delete" key on your keyboard.
Always ensure you've backed up essential data before performing deletion operations to prevent unintended loss.
