In this JavaScript tutorial we look at, How to Use the map Method in JavaScript, Return a New Array with map Method on Codecademy, Iterators, in it, we look at the Codecademy lesson, "The .map() Method. This lesson teaches us that the .map() method takes a callback function as its argument and will return a new array. We learn that the .map() method works a lot like the .forEach() method but the biggest difference is that .map() will return a new array. We also learn that the original array is never altered, and we do return a new array. The .map() method takes a callback function and will iterate through an array we provide it. The .map() method will run the callback function each time through the array we provide it. We are able to create a new array based on our old array without altering or changing the original array. The .map() method is helpful when we want our loop to return a new array! Understanding the .map() method is important when learning to program in JavaScript. Make sure to practice the .map() method with different data sets and see what you get. Learning the different iterators in JavaScript is key in learning to program like a pro.
