Databases are the go-to platform for storing data with specified description, so let’s consider how a developer can store and retrieve data with a spatial component for use in our web maps. One of the most prime methods of building database-driven web applications is to use server side scripting language like PHP and MySQL as the back-end database. Both have been around for a long time and are open source platforms.
So, lets stick with PHP and MySQL for our first example.
