Everything in Java belongs to an object or a class. An entity cannot exists on its own or in isolation.
(Before Java 1.8)
We pass object that contains a behavior to perform a task.
From Java 8 , we can pass behavior itself to a method as a parameter.
We will understand this with simple example.
